Create a Checklist

In order to ensure that you have everything you need on the day of your event, make yourself a checklist well in advance that has everything you need to bring, and we mean everything. From the photo booth itself to the traveling case, printer, stand, printer cover, backdrop, and any other supplies that you’re using to set up an amazing photo booth experience for your guests. By creating a list ahead of time, you can be assured that you’re not forgetting anything if a few nerves set in on the day of the event!

Dress to Impress

Since this is your first event for your new photo booth business, you should want to impress your guests! There’s no better way to make a great first impression than by dressing well. Men, wear a suit. Women, wear an appropriate dress or pantsuit. Of course, if your event hosts prefer that you dress more casual you can, and it never hurts to check with them what their preferred dress code may be! But, at the end of the day, you’re a new business owner and you should dress the part!

Be Punctual

Being on time is non-negotiable. As a private contractor, you should make it your number one priority to show up early enough to have your entire photo booth setup and ready to go when guests start arriving. The beginning of most events is a time for mingling, and it can be a great time for guests at your event to start settling in and getting comfortable by taking advantage of the photo booth! Plus, if you’re early enough to get completely set up before the event begins, you’ll be taking a load of stress off of the shoulders of your event host, which is always a good thing.

Engage With Your Guests

Once your booth is set up and the event begins, it’s time to get started! Engaging with your guests at every event is going to be essential for the success of your photo booth business. Working at an event is the best and easiest way to connect with future customers! Talk to everyone who comes to use your booth, snap the photo for them if you want, encourage the use of props for more fun, and be a part of making their experience in your photo booth amazing! The more people you meet, the higher your chances of booking more and more events in the future.

Turn Off Your Booth During Formalities

Many events at which you book your photo booth, there will be moments such as speeches or a dinner during which you should turn off your photo booth. These moments are when the host most likely prefers people’s attention, and you don’t want to draw that attention away from your host by continuing the use of the booth. Instead, show respect to your hosts by letting the guests know that your booth will be available again after the speeches are made or the final course of dinner has been served.

Practice Proper Etiquette

At any event, not just your first, there are a few things to keep in mind in terms of proper etiquette for being a booked vendor. While it’s important that you have fun while meeting people and running your booth, it’s also important that you handle yourself in a professional and appropriate manner. Not only will this impress your hosts, but it will make a lasting impression on guests that may be looking for a photo booth for another event in the future. Here are some things to keep in mind during your first event:

  • Smile! This is the best way to make a great first (and lasting) impression
  • Do not consume alcohol
  • Do not eat unless given permission by the host
  • Do not use your phone
  • Do not sit down
  • Keep your booth setup and prop table clean
  • Pick up and hand photo prints to the guests
